Join the Guild’s Seeing the Forest for the Queers program for our October Quarterly meeting. Our panelists will discuss recruitment and retention strategies, how lack or inclusion of DEI effects queer professionals, and how we can be more inclusive in the field.

This event is open to all professionals and students within forestry and natural resources who identify with the LGBTQIA+ community, and their allies.

What is Seeing the Forest for the Queers? Seeing the Forest for the Queers, or SFQ, is a group building community and connection among LGBTQIA+ professionals and students in forestry and natural resources.

Ground Rules:

– Act in kindness

– Always assume positive intent

– Ask if you can ask

– Ask questions instead of telling

– Keep conversation focused on the central topic of creating space for the LGBTQIA+ community

– Listen to each other

– Respect one another

– Respect the privacy of others; what is said here stays here

– Speak from your own perspective, avoid speaking for others

– Take responsibility to learn

Note: If a host believes you are intentionally trying to cause harm, you will be removed from the event.

The Forest Stewards Guild is a national organization of foresters and allied natural resource professionals who practice and promote ecological forestry that benefits the whole ecosystem, including the human communities that depend upon it. The Guild values diverse perspectives in forestry and forest stewardship.
