A field event of the Massachusetts Chapter and Yankee Division of the Society of American Foresters, joint with the Forest Stewards Guild and MA DCR Division of Water Supply Protection.

This spring field meeting in central Massachusetts will feature morning and afternoon field tour stops at MA DCR’s Ware River watershed property and a lunch gathering at Rutland State Park. Focal topics include oak regeneration, pine barrens management, slash wall construction, and deer & moose browse impacts.

9:00 – 12:00 Morning Session (Two Groups Rotate to Both Sites)

12:00 – 1:30 Catered Lunch (Provided)

1:30 – 3:30 Afternoon Session (Choose One)

  • Regeneration Harvest & Slash Wall
  • Deer & Moose Browse Impacts and Exclosure Study (Half-Mile Walk)

3:30 Conclude & Depart from Field Sites
