Project Description:

The mountain pine beetle is not present in Minnesota but remains a threat to mature pine forests of the Great Lakes region. Building on past work, this project seeks to characterize conditions that have led to outbreaks of mountain pine beetle in the Black Hills of South Dakota, USA. This project is a component of a larger grant examining how populations of mountain pine beetle transition from endemic to outbreaking  levels.
