Summary:

We are now seeking a dedicated individual, with a natural resources background (forestry preferred), to assist woodland owners and foresters with the implementation of practices to enhance their forestland. This new position is a three-year shared position with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (“NRCS”).  There is a possibility of a two-year extension.  Supervision, daily direction, training, and support will be provided by Maine Woodland Owners and NRCS staff.  The position will be located at Maine Woodland Owners’ office in Augusta, Maine with occasional time spent at NRCS offices.

Responsibilities:

– Be familiar with all cost share programs available to woodland owners.

– Work closely with woodland owners to explain, encourage the use of, and qualify them for forestry cost share programs.

– Promote forestry and land improvements through one-on-one interactions with woodland owners, as well as through in-person and on-line group interactions.

– Provide feedback to NRCS on ways to improve delivery of their technical assistance programs.

– Support and assist existing NRCS approved Technical Service Providers (“TSPs”) with problem solving and qualifying their clients for programs.

– Actively encourage more individuals to become TSPs, and assist with their training.
