Summary: 

The successful candidate will provide expertise for teaching forest and environmental science at the University of Maine in topics such as soil, silviculture, and/or forest management. The candidate will conduct research that contributes to the understanding and improved sustainability of the forests in the state, region, and beyond. The position carries an expectation to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the University and the discipline.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • 50% Research / 50% Teaching
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of expertise which can include forest soils, silviculture, or forest management.
  • Advise undergraduate students in the BS in Forestry and the BS in Ecology & Environmental Science programs.
  • Advise graduate students in Forestry and Ecology & Environmental Science programs.
  • Conduct research on forest science that is of importance to Maine and beyond, and apply for external funding to support this research program.
  • Collaborate with scientists and professionals in forest resource community and related disciplines.
