Employer: The Nature Conservancy Location: Ely, Minnesota Application deadline: Rolling Full position description and application instructions Position Summary  TNC Minnesota is hiring a permanent Northwoods Fire Module Leader to start early March 2026.  The Northwoods Fire Module is entering its third year based in the Ely Fireshed.  The Module is part of an ongoing fire management collaboration led by the Superior National Forest and enthusiastically supported by many government agencies, non-profit, and tribal partners.   The Module Leader will work closely with USFS near the border of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, cooperatively implementing projects imperative to forest health and community risk reduction. Key Responsibilities
  • Northwoods Module work includes creating and improving burn unit firebreaks
  • Thinning strategic locations with chainsaws and brush saws
  • Cooperatively implementing prescribed burns, building and burning piles, and delivering training.
  • The Module participates in community fire workshops and supports partner capacity building.
  • The Module Leader will participate in out-of-state assignments and collaborate with other TNC prescribed fire modules in Minnesota and Wisconsin

Employer: Wisconsin Prescribed Fire Council Location: Remote/preferably within 150 miles of Madison, WI Application deadline: 1/23/26, applications accepted until position is filled Full position description and application instructions Position Summary  The Executive Director is responsible for the oversight of all aspects of day-to-day operations and is overseen by the Board of Directors with the board Chair acting as the direct supervisor. Responsibilities include balancing organizational management, management of WPFC staff, administrative work, project management, fundraising, budget management, and the handling of public relations. The Executive Director will also be responsible for grant writing and for ensuring grant agreements and contracts are implemented successfully and within budget Key Responsibilities 
  • Advance and guide the current strategic vision for the organization.
  • Establish and grow partnerships with other aligned organizations to further the goals of the WPFC
  • Manage budgets, bookkeeping and accounting, payroll, payment of bills, and grant administration
  • Write grant and contract proposals
  • Promote existing member services and ensure accessibility, quality, and regular delivery of these services to members.
  • Determine the need for and the capacity to hire and oversee potential future additional employees, develop position descriptions, and lead hiring processes.
