This free workshop is organized by Roanoke Electric Cooperative’s Sustainable Forestry and Land Retention Project and the University of Georgia’s Warnell School of Forestry & Natural Resources. The purpose is to increase awareness of and participation in the Conservation Reserve Program. The program’s long-term goal is to re-establish valuable land cover to help improve water quality, prevent soil erosion and reduce loss of wildlife habitat. In exchange for a yearly rental payment, farmers enrolled in the program agree to remove environmentally sensitive land from agricultural production and plant species that will improve environmental health and quality. Learn more about the program here
The first 40 landowners registered for this workshop will receive a $25 gift card. You must be present at the workshop to receive the gift card; only one gift card is available per household.
CRP is a private-lands conservation program run by USDA’s Farm Service Agency. This workshop aims to help underserved landowners in N.C.
