The Remote Sensing Technician, term-limited full-time, to help produce and manage data layers essential to the Southeast FireMap project (SE FireMap), an online tool designed to inform conservation and land management decision-making. SE FireMap integrates state burn permit requests and geospatial layers representing vegetation and habitat types with the Landsat Burned Area products to track both prescribed fire and wildfires, mapping all detectable fires (down to 5 acres) across nine states in the southeastern US. SE FireMap is currently in a beta development phase with plans to expand the visualization and analysis capabilities of the tool. The selected candidate for this position will work with the primary investigators to routinely acquire and produce burned area products, derived fire history metrics, and additional data layers delivered through SE FireMap, as well as providing data analysis and visualization to support stakeholder engagement, and published reports and journal articles.
