Quercus Land Stewardship Services is seeking experienced burn crew members and crew leaders for our Spring 2020 prescribed burn season, which typically begins sometime in March and runs through April.
We are an ecological restoration contractor that performs prescribed burns for customers throughout Wisconsin, with a concentration in the southwestern part of the state. We are a safety-conscious, professional organization that maintains a fast pace during the spring burn season. In 2019 we completed 84 burns on over 2296 acres on 31 burn days. The minimum training requirement for burn crew members is S130/190. The preferred candidates will have 3-5 years of prescribed burn experience and advanced NWCG certifications including S131, S290, S219 (formerly S234). Red Card is not a requirement. Applicants with fewer years of experience and fewer advanced certifications will be considered.
The prescribed burn crew positions are seasonal. The starting date depends on the weather and is generally between early March and late March. The season typically runs through early May. Candidates who have completed chainsaw safety training will be eligible for positions on the tree and brush removal crew ahead of burn season. Burn crew members also receive preferred consideration for permanent
year-round Land Stewardship Technician positions.
