Summary:
Manages the operational, administrative, and budgetary duties of the Plant Quarantine Branch; provide advice, guidance and support to sister Plant Industries’ Branches; cooperate with other governmental jurisdictions, national and international, and with local, county, state and federal government agencies on the inspection, fumigation, treatment, safeguarding, certification, disposition and rejection of agricultural pests or pest conditions; serve as co-chair of advisory committees on the introduction of land animals, plants, organisms, pathogens, invertebrate and aquatic animals, and insects; provide consultative services on plant and animal quarantine problems; conduct public relations and educational programs; negotiate contract arrangements with private industry for special projects; render highly technical and specialized decisions on the import or export of extremely costly or controversial matter; and perform other related duties as assigned.
