The key responsibility of this position are to plan, coordinate and evaluate the day-to-day operational, fiscal and administrative activities of the statewide Natural and Working Lands Program. This position is a great opportunity for recent MS or PhD graduate who is looking to apply their science to a diverse landscape in New Mexico. This position works closely with other NM Depts. and other state/federal programs across the west.
- implement statewide Natural and Working Lands strategies in direct collaboration with the New Mexico Department of Agriculture and in coordination with the U.S. Climate Alliance Natural and Working Lands Working Group
- organize the provision of technical assistance for climate mitigation to state personnel who work with private landowners and communities, including the Natural Resources Conservation Service and Soil and Water Conservation Districts in collaboration with New Mexico Department of Agriculture
- provide instruction and implementation oversight for land conservation programs such as the Land Conservation Investment Tax Credit program and others,
