The Forest Health Outreach Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring statewide and regional outreach efforts with internal staff and external partners.
The DNR would like to hire this position in conjunction with the Forest Health Communications Specialist position. Interested and qualified candidates are encouraged to apply for both positions.
70% – Develop, coordinate, and implement outreach and education for the forest health program. Foster partnerships within the Department, with other state and federal agencies and with external stakeholders to create consistent messaging across the state. Collaborate with internal and external partners to increase effectiveness and efficiency and increase the use of outreach and education as a tool for managing forest health threats. And more.
20% – Design and conduct assessments on efficacy of outreach and education activities. Address impediments to desired results and facilitate solutions. Work with partners on the solutions.
10% – Serve as the DNR public information officer on collaborative statewide forest health management programs such as Gypsy Moth Slow The Spread, Gypsy Moth Suppression and Emerald Ash Borer.
