The GA Sentinel Landscape Pilot Project Coordinator will be focused on increasing prescribed fire within the Georgia Sentinel Landscape (GSL) as part of a 3-year pilot project. The GSL Pilot Project Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the existing prescribed fire cooperative in West Georgia, establishing a prescribed fire cooperative in Southeast Georgia, improving communication between agencies and private landowners, and increasing local capacity needed by landowners.
- coordinating the pilot project, providing landowner technical assistance, delivering and partnering on prescribed fire focused training events and outreach programs, administering a cost-share program, and working with partners to build a prescribed fire cooperative in multiple landscapes.
- work with numerous partner organizations and landowners, and a critical part of the job will be sharing science-based information with partners and landowners, in-person and through web-based technology and training. The GASL Pilot Project Coordinator will be expected to spend considerable time in the field with landowners and partners, which will likely include teaching and instructing in events such as Learn and Burns.
- participate in other supporting roles within the organization as needed such as providing instruction at Longleaf Academies, assisting with the Biennial Longleaf Conference, and contributing content to LLA’s quarterly magazine, The Longleaf Leader.
