Summary:

We’d love to recruit someone who is interested in telling our stories of forest restoration and also interested in working with the press and NM leadership during fire season. The position has four key areas of responsibility:

1) Manage fire prevention, preparedness, and response information program. (45%)

  • Provide active information to the public, media and internal audiences
  • Prepare and implement a fire season media plan and manage the dissemination of fire information

2) Manage the development of all Division program publications, social media and website (20%)

  • Develop material(s) describing accomplishments related to the 2020 Forest Action Plan
  • Maintain current material on the Forestry Division’s web pages withing the EMNRD website and social media accounts

3) Conduct community education and outreach (25%)

  • Manage the development of a community education outreach program that can by used by staff to provide public education on forestry, prescribed fire and natural resource issues
  • Seek and develop creative story-telling opportunities by working closely with community members, partners, and Forestry Division staff

4) Coordinate and manage special events for the Forestry Division and partners to promote fire prevention and preparedness, interagency and public meetings, and other events as needed. (10%)

  • Coordinate Division meetings, conferences, training, and public meetings
