Summary:

The focus of the position is to serve as the Exchange’s science delivery expert, providing science delivery materials through a variety of media and in-person events, and to serve as the main point of contact for our customers. NAFSE is part of a large, national network of Fire Science Exchanges funded by the U.S. Department of Interior Joint Fire Science Program.

Details of appointment: The position is employed by the Northeastern Forest Fire Protection Compact. This is a remote position but must be physically located in New England or the Mid-Atlantic Region. Three to four weeks of travel are expected per year. This position is fully funded through September 2020, with a high likelihood of funding through at least September 2022. A flexible, part-time, schedule is possible for a well-suited candidate.

Duties under supervision of PIs:

  • Create and maintain website content, social media updates, and evaluate analytics on wildfire science and NAFSE events,
  • Monitor and solicit regional news on wildfire science and create quarterly newsletters,
  • Design event and marketing materials,
  • Present talks and displays on NAFSE efforts and/or fire science topics,
  • And much more!
