This position provides national level leadership, coordination, oversight, and program management for the national fire danger program and technology. The incumbent coordinates the updates, release, and adoption of fire danger technology, the development and implementation of Fire Danger Operating Plans, and the integration of associated policies. The incumbent will serve as business lead for fire danger product development and maintenance, along with related subcomponents. This includes a wide range of policy and program support for development of fire danger related decisions involving preparedness, staffing, response, fire restrictions, fire danger rating and prescribed fire. This position is also responsible for implementing and assisting in the development of fire planning policies and procedures consistent with national level guidance and coordinating information between national, geographic area, fire planning units, and field units.
