Summary:

The Crew Lead supports hiring and onboarding of and coordinates and supervises the Fire Forward
Apprenticeship Crew (a five-person, full-time fire and ecosystem stewardship crew) with a
workforce/professional development focus in the areas of fuels treatments, ecological monitoring,
prescribed burn planning and implementation, and fireline leadership.

Responsibilities

• Functions as both Lead and member of a work team in a high stress environment, making
  decisions on the fire line based upon evaluation of fire behavior, available resources, and
  knowledge of Crew members’ skills.
• Plans and prepares year-round work projects for the Crew; directs Crew members’ day-to-day
  and overall work tasks; tracks crew hours, progress on projects, and professional growth of
  Crew members.
• Supports facilitation of workshops and courses (e.g., NWCG fireline courses) for Crew members
  and affiliated/general community.
• Supports the training and development (e.g., evaluations) of Crew members.
