Summary:

The ideal NAP Colorado manager candidate is a people-oriented facilitator who has previously worked with ranchers and farmers, in experiential education, and/or in working lands conservation. The ideal candidate works well collaboratively, understands the complex connections between social, economic, and ecological dimensions of agriculture, and is passionate about solving current food production and land stewardship challenges.

Primary responsibilities:

Program Coordination

  • Serve as the main point of contact for NAP mentors and apprentices in Colorado
  • Support the application process for potential new program mentors
  • Facilitate successful apprentice placement at Colorado mentor locations
  • Maintain regular contact with mentors and apprentices in Colorado throughout the apprenticeship season

Recruitment and Outreach

  • In collaboration with the NAP director, design, implement, and evaluate Quivira’s apprentice recruitment plan
  • Contribute to the NAP monthly newsletter, including compiling job opportunities and other newsletter material
  • Schedule, plan, and promote NAP and National Western Center events in the Colorado, including Mentor 101, NAP 101, Ranch 101 workshops, and Career Connections job fair events
  • And more…

Community Building

  • Build relationships with National Western Center partners (e.g. CSU, National Western Stock Show, STEAD school) to source apprentices
  • Explore how to grow the impact and reach of the New Agrarian program by connecting it to other efforts in the state
  • Serve as a representative for the National Western Center and Quivira on related coalitions (e.g. Colorado Healthy Soil Collaborative)
