Because old growth forests are rare and many species depend on them\, managers may seek to help younger forests hold attributes of older forests faster than nature can on its own. Scientists have experimented with structural complexity enhancement techniques such as encouraging the growth of larger diameter trees\, standing dead trees\, large down logs\, and structural diversity. Dr. Bill Keeton will share his research and answer questions.
