SUMMARY:Learning to Identify Appalachian Cove Forests
DESCRIPTION:Example of stream crossing \nRegistration is closed \nMay 19\, 2022\n9:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. ET \nWaynesville\, NC (exact meeting location will be shared upon registering). \nThe meeting place only has space for 15 vehicles. Please plan to carpool and in your registration\, let us know the names of the attendees you are sharing a vehicle with\, so we can allow more participation than what we’d be limited to due to parking. \nWe invite foresters\, loggers\, and other natural resource practitioners to a workshop about Appalachian Cove Forests. This workshop is field-based and primarily focused on how to identify cove forests. We will also touch on ecological forest management and operations in cove forest sites. The workshop will be a “Walk & Talk”-style and include a 1.5 mile hike held at a segment of the Mountains to Sea trail near Waynesville\, NC. \nAgenda for download (and below): \n9:15 Check in\n9:25 Welcome and Introductions\n9:45 Hike/Field Tour\n11:45 Wrap Up \nExample of elevation gain \nAccessibility: During this workshop we will be hiking a segment of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. It will be 1.5 miles round trip and include two shallow stream crossings and about 500 feet of elevation gain.
